О плюсах вам и так расскажут в разных официальных и рекламных обзорах. А вот о минусах поведаем мы. Итак, обзор недостатков самого нового планшета от корейской суперкомпании.

Минусы, о которых пишут в обзорах и тестах

Малый объем памяти

Ограниченный собственными ресурсами системы объем памяти – это главный недостаток нового корейского планшета. 128 гигабайт (приличная доля из которых уже съедена операционкой) – много только для тех, кто все свои видео сразу выкладывает в Интернет, а чужие смотрит исключительно онлайн. Расширение за счет карт microSD не предусмотрено. На этапе проектирования планшет предполагался в качестве офисного варианта для корпораций – и тогда ограничение памяти было хотя бы понятно. Но когда речь зашла о его выходе в широкую продажу, оправданий этому конструкторскому промаху не осталось.

Небольшая мощность системы

Процессор Intel Core M вполне устроит новичка, но для специалистов его показатели очень неоднозначны. По информации портала howtablet.ru, на эталонных тестах (3DMark, GeekBench, PCMark 8 и других) TabPro S существенно проиграл своему конкуренту, работающему на Windows, - Microsoft Surface Pro 4. И даже по сравнению с iPad Pro оказался заметно слабее.

Windows есть Windows. Современные приложения для этой системы не очень рассчитаны на планшеты с небольшим объемом памяти. При этом Microsoft слишком гордая компания, чтобы оперативно адаптировать лучшие достижения конкурентов, сделанные под iOS или Android. Даже если речь идет о популярнейших играх. Например, когда одна из самых востребованных игр Subway surfers была на пике популярности, «мелкомягкие» воротили от нее нос. Как только популярность пошла на спад, игру, наконец, адаптировали для Windows. Зачем – никто так и не понял. Малое число приложений – одна из главных причин невысоких продаж гаджетов на Windows.

Усложненная система безопасности и платный контент

Еще одна причина, по которой молодежь отдает предпочтение Android. В плане жесткости ограничений на установку приложений Samsung Galaxy TabPro S переплюнул даже планшеты на iOS. При скачивании любых приложений в обязательном порядке требуется ввести пароль от учетной записи. Никакие «левые» программы система просто не попустит. Большинство же аутентичных приложений – платные. Практически во всех обзорах отмечается, что лучше всего TabPro S подойдет для деловых людей.

Хлипкая клавиатура в комплекте

Этой проблеме автор обзора на howtablet.ru посвятил целый большой раздел – до того она оказалась актуальной. Чехол-клавиатура, идущий в комплекте, не может удержать тонкое и симпатичное, но как-никак 12-дюймовое устройство в вертикальном положении.

Используемые магниты, встроенные по обе стороны чехла, а также магнитный якорь над клавиатурой, должны обеспечивать удержание планшета под углом в 115 или 155 градусов. Должны – но не обеспечивают.

Не советуем ставить планшет на край стола: задняя крышка часто выскальзывает из фиксирующей части, из-за чего девайс может вполне жестко спланировать вниз. Работать с планшетом лёжа тоже не особенно удобно, поскольку экран начинает крениться в сторону клавиатуры и в конце концов падает на нее. Такое ощущение, что разработчики испытывали магниты на 10-дюймовом планшете, а потом решили без проверки поставить их на 12-дюймовый. Конечно, при известной осторожности можно крутить-вертеть чехол с планшетом в различных позициях, но разве такой компромисс оправдан в случае гаджета стоимостью под 90 000 рублей?

Хотя про разные позиции это мы тоже погорячились. Заложить клавиатуру за планшет, чтобы использовать его только как сенсорный, не получится: из-за магнита, встроенного в нижний сегмент панели на задней части устройства, TabPro S сразу переходит в спящий режим. Клавиатуру приходится отсоединять и убирать в сторону, чтобы этого не происходило. Ошибка дизайна.

Маркость клавиатуры – тоже не самый приятный сюрприз при покупке на Galaxy TabPro S. «Клава» буквально притягивает к себе пыль и грязь, а на панели под запястьями после активного использования устройства появляется нездоровый блеск.

Единственный разъем USB

Этот недостаток стал следствием стремления производителя сделать максимально тонкое устройство. В результате у Samsung Galaxy TabPro S всего один интерфейсный порт USB Type-C. Нельзя сказать, что так жить нельзя, но определенные неудобства такое ограничение всё же доставляет.

Обрамление у нового самсунговского планшета по нынешним меркам широковато, особенно если оценивать его вместе с боковыми рамками по 2 сантиметра. Но этот недостаток относительный, поскольку широкие боковые панели помогают держать планшет, не касаясь сенсорного экрана.

Минусы, о которых пишут в отзывах

Неудобно смотреть онлайн-видео

Встроенное ПО от Windows 10 хорошо себя проявляет на ноутбуках и стационарных компьютерах, а вот запуск онлайн-видео на планшетах пока не на высоте.

Неудобная клавиатура

Пользователи отмечают, что из-за особенностей расположения клавиш пальцы очень часто попадают по двум кнопкам вместо одной. К тому же ограниченный ход кнопок создает ощущение какой-то дешевой модели.

Для USB-порта нужен переходник

Мало того, что порт один, он еще и модифицированный. Многие владельцы отмечают печальную необходимость таскать с собой переходник для того, чтобы использовать обычную флешку.

Samsung Galaxy TabPro S, несмотря на недостатки – планшет очень интересный. Во-первых, это один из очень немногих на рынке мобильных девайсов, работающий на Windows 10: привыкшим к этой ОС пользователям (а их миллионы) не нужно перестраиваться. Достаточно производительный, он компактнее аналогов и дольше них работает на одном заряде (до 10 часов). Плюс тонкий корпус и малый вес для устройства с 12-дюймовым экраном.

Экран, кстати, - самое главное преимущество TabPro S. Столь крупную матрицу Super AMOLED редко встретишь в этом сегменте рынка. У дисплея отличная цветопередача, широкие углы обзора, глубокий черный цвет.

Ну и добавим приятный дизайн, надежный корпус и достойный сервис от Samsung.

The Samsung Galaxy TabPro S is the best Windows tablet deal in the, well, galaxy.

When it debuted in March 2016, the Samsung Galaxy TabPro S packed more value into a Windows tablet for $899, £899 or AU$1,499 than any other contender. Fast-forward to November 2016 and it looks just as good.

But now it costs $200, £200 or AU$150 less.

It's not perfect; its Intel Core M processor is a little underpowered and its keyboard is ergonomically limited. But at $700, the Galaxy TabPro S has much to recommend it. It's razor-thin (about 0.2 mm thicker than Apple's 9.7-inch iPad Pro), comes with a detachable keyboard, and delivers more than 7 hours of battery life. But it's the brilliant AMOLED display that steals the show: With a native resolution of 2,160x1,440 pixels, images look clear, bright and sharp -- even from extreme side angles.

Still, Microsoft's Surface Pro 4 remains the gold standard for Windows tablets. It delivers robust processing power, a perfectly sized display with a just-right aspect ratio and a few critical add-on accessories. And it's got a better keyboard than the TabPro S. But it's also a couple of hundred dollars more expensive -- and that base price does not include that essential keyboard, which must be purchased separately for an additional $129, £110 or AU$200. The price difference is enough to make the TabPro S worthy of a serious look.

Windows tablet shoppers should also check out the Acer Switch Alpha 12, which packs a Core i5 processor into a tablet, and throws the keyboard in for free.

Of course, the tablet landscape is abundant with diversity and quality in this price range, especially if you go beyond Windows. This past September, Apple gave a storage boost to its lineup of iPads. Google's 2015 tablet, the Pixel C, is better than ever with the Android Nougat software upgrade. And if you can live without the keyboard, Samsung's Galaxy Tab S2 delivers many of the TabPro's virtues -- a slim profile, dazzling AMOLED screen and even more stellar battery life -- for a fraction of the price.

Samsung's latest PC takes the name of its Galaxy line of Android phones and tablets, despite running the Windows 10 ($100 at Amazon) operating system. The Galaxy TabPro S is a new tilt at one of the most persistent windmills in technology -- crafting the perfect Windows tablet.

Cracking the Windows tablet code has been a quest that computer makers have obsessed over for years. It's a quest that goes back to the days before Windows 10 or even Windows 8, and even before Apple's iPad made slate-style tablets everyday household objects. Some would say it's less of a quest and more of a fool's errand, full of false starts and overhyped promises.

Most of the time, the Windows operating system and the PC apps that run on it just aren't designed with the same single-tap access, consistent navigation, and optimal screen scaling as apps that live in the walled garden of iOS and the iPad. Even when Windows 8 introduced a tablet-friendly interface, it failed to scratch that particular itch, and instead just made everyday computing tasks more cumbersome.

Why is it so hard to make a Windows tablet that feels both useful and intuitive, while also providing the kind of instant gratification the best gadgets offer? It's because we still need these devices to do double duty as everyday workstations for email, office documents and shopping, on top of the easy tap-swipe-flick of media watching and games. Most PC makers have settled on hybrid machines that are full-time laptops and part-time tablets, such as the Lenovo Yoga series, but these are not iPad alternatives and never will be.

Microsoft has come the closest to date, with its evolving Surface line. Over the course of four generations, the Surface tablet has become an excellent overall product, thanks to extensive work in tweaking the physical design, including perfecting the adjustable kickstand and magnetic keyboard cover. I'd recommend the latest Surface Pro 4 as the go-to Windows tablet, but it has a fatal flaw -- it's expensive. That's because the keyboard cover -- by every account a required accessory for even basic everyday use -- doesn't come with the Surface. It instead must be purchased separately, for a not-insignificant $129, on top of a tablet that runs from $899 (£749 or AU$1,349) to $1,799. That puts even the most affordable Surface Pro 4 ($639 at Amazon) north of the thousand-dollar mark, an important psychological and practical barrier.

The Samsung Galaxy TabPro S sets out to emulate the best parts of the Surface line, while also correcting some of its flaws. The biggest news here is that the single currently available configuration, combining a 12-inch AMOLED display (more on that in a minute) with an Intel Core m3 CPU and a 128GB solid-state drive, is $899 (£849, AU$1,499), which includes a very familiar-looking and -feeling keyboard cover. With that simple move, including the keyboard in the box, Samsung earns a tip of my virtual hat for showing some respect for consumers.

But the Galaxy TabPro S isn't perfect, even though it represents an excellent overall value. The keyboard cover, while solid-feeling and very usable, isn't as evolved as the one on the latest Surface, the Surface Pro 4. The Surface keyboard has moved to island-style keys, closer to what you'd find on a traditional laptop, while the Samsung keyboard has tightly packed keys that do not feel as natural to use.
