0x80048051 Try again later or maybe check your account.

This may mean there's a problem with Xbox Live, or that your console has encountered an unexpected error.

To resolve this problem, try the following solutions.

Solution 1: Check for Xbox Live status alerts

If you see any alerts here, wait until the service is up and running and try again:

Solution 2: Power cycle your network hardware and restart your console

To perform a network hardware reset and restart your console, follow these steps:

  1. Unplug the power cable from the back of your router, modem, or gateway, and wait 5 minutes. If you have a router and a modem, unplug the power cable from both devices.
  2. After 5 minutes, plug in the modem or gateway first and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.
  3. If you're using a router, plug it in and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.
  4. On your Xbox One console, press the Xbox button to open the guide.
  5. Select Settings.
  6. Select Restart console.
  7. Select Yes to confirm.

Note If you're unable to access the guide or if the console appears to be frozen, press and hold the Xbox button on the console for 10 seconds, until the console turns off. After the console shuts down, touch the Xbox button on the console again to restart.

This may mean that Xbox Live has encountered an error, or that your Xbox console is experiencing network connectivity trouble.

Note This error is only temporary and may not pertain to your payment or account information.

To resolve this problem, try the following solutions.

Solution 1: Check the Xbox Live service status

If you see any alerts here, wait until the service is up and running and try again:

Solution 2: Make your purchase through a browser

If you’re experiencing this problem while making a purchase, you can work around it by making the purchase online through a browser at Xbox.com instead of through your console. Here’s how:

  1. Sign in to account.microsoft.com using your Microsoft account.
  2. Select or tap Store, and then select the category from which you want to make a purchase. For example, if you want to purchase a video, select Entertainment, and then select Movies & TV.

Solution 3: Clear the system cache

  1. Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and then select System Settings.
  2. Select Storage.

  1. Highlight but don't select a storage device, and then press the Y button on your controller for Device Options.

    Note It doesn't matter which storage device you highlight. This clears the cache for all storage devices.

  1. On the Device Options screen, select Clear System Cache.

  1. When prompted to confirm storage device maintenance, select Yes.

    Note You'll return to the Storage Devices screen when you've cleared the system cache. You can then press the Guide button on the controller and return to Xbox Home.

Solution 4: Power cycle your Xbox 360 console

Turn the console off and then on again to see if this resolves the issue. Here's how:

  1. To turn the console off, touch the power button on the front of the console. (See the green lighted buttons below.)

Sorry, either that’s the wrong password or the email you entered doesn’t have an Xbox Live membership. Please try again, or go to Xbox.com/forgot if you need help.

Code: 80048821

This may mean one of the following:

  • Your Xbox Live profile is corrupted.
  • There’s a problem with the security information for your Microsoft account.

Solution 1: Restart your Xbox 360 console

Turning off your Xbox 360 console and then restarting it may clear up the problem.

Solution 2: Verify the password for your Microsoft account

Verify that the password you entered is correct. If you forgot your password or can’t sign in with your password, reset your password.

Solution 3: Try to sign in at Xbox.com

Here’s how:

  1. Tap or click Sign In at the top of any xbox.com page, such as this one.
  2. Type the username and password for your Microsoft account, and then click Sign In.
  3. If you can sign in on Xbox.com, try to sign in on your Xbox 360 console again.

Solution 4: Update the security information for your Microsoft account

Verify and, if necessary, add security information to your Microsoft account. For example, add a new email address or phone number. For information about how to manage the security information for your Microsoft account, see Microsoft account security information overview.

After you verify and update the security information for your Microsoft account, sign in to Xbox Live and try again to purchase or download the content.

Solution 5: Clear the system cache

Here’s how:

  1. Press the Guide button on your controller.
  2. Go to Settings and select System Settings.
  3. Select Storage or Memory.
  4. Highlight any storage device, and then press Y on your controller. (It doesn't matter which storage device you select; the cache will be cleared for all storage devices.)
  5. Select Clear System Cache.
  6. When you're prompted to confirm storage device maintenance, select Yes.

Solution 6: Move and then redownload your Xbox Live profile

Here’s how:

  1. Format a spare USB flash drive as a memory unit.
  2. Move your profile to the flash drive that you formatted in step 1. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Plug the USB flash drive into your console.
    2. Press the Guide button on your controller.
    3. Go to Settings, System Settings, and then Storage.
    4. Select All Devices.
    5. Select Gamer Profiles, and then select your gamer profile.
    6. Select Move.
    7. Select the USB flash drive to which you want to move your profile.
    8. Remove the USB flash drive from your console.
  3. Redownload your profile. For help, see Download your Xbox Live profile to a different Xbox 360 console or redownload it.

Solution 7: Delete the Marketplace System Data file

The Xbox 360 console also stores temporary files for the Xbox Games Store. You might resolve this issue if you delete the Marketplace System Data file. Here’s how:

  1. Press the Guide button on your controller.
  2. Go to Settings, and then System Settings.
  3. Select Storage, and then select your primary storage device.
  4. Select System Items.
  5. Select Marketplace System Data.
  6. Select Delete.
  7. Restart your console.

Solution 8: Delete the most recent system update

Here's how:

  1. Press the Guide button on your controller.
  2. Go to Settings and then System Settings.
  3. Select Storage.
  4. Highlight (but do not select) Memory Unit.
  5. On your controller, press the following buttons in the following order:
    1. Left bumper
    2. Right bumper
    3. X button
  6. Repeat step 5.
  7. When you see the following message, select Yes:

Delete System Update

If any storage device contains a system update, the update and access to Xbox Live will be removed. To use these features again, sign in to Xbox Live and download the update. For more info, visit www.xbox.com/storage.

Your console will restart after the operation is complete. Do you want to continue?
