Благодаря развитию технологий, у пользователей уже несколько лет есть полноценная возможность использовать для работы не только ноутбуки, но также планшеты и даже смартфоны. Первые и вторые в этом плане, пожалуй, самые идеальные, особенно если учитывать трансформируемые модели. Но лишь немногие планшеты способны сравниться по удобству, функциональности и дизайну с новым ideapad Miix 700.

Дизайн и эргономика

От планшета, разработанного для работы и полноценной замены ноутбука, не нужно ожидать компактности классических мультимедийных моделей. Lenovo ideapad Miix 700 – это 12-дюймовая металлическая машинка толщиной чуть менее 9 мм.

Дизайн не уникальный, а лицевая и боковые грани отдаленно напоминают Microsoft Surface.

Но планшет Lenovo более утонченный и изящный, не в последнюю очередь благодаря фирменным шарнирам в виде металлического браслета для наручных часов.

Решение выглядит просто шикарно и приковывает взгляд.

При этом широкая металлическая подставка может фиксироваться в любом удобном положении.

Не самая тонкая рамка вокруг дисплея обеспечивает более удобный хват планшета, так что пальцы не будут закрывать экран. Кроме этого тыльная панель немного выпуклая, так что устройство более надежно лежит в руке. Правда, в таком виде ideapad Miix 700 вряд ли будет использоваться долго, учитывая вес в 780 г.

Универсальность устройства также обеспечивает комплектная обложка-клавиатура, выполненная из приятного на ощупь кожзама снаружи и бархатистого прорезиненного пластика внутри, который также защищает экран от царапин.

Аксессуар прочно крепится к планшету при помощи магнитов, так что для отсоединения нудно приложить усилие.

При этом используется еще один магнит, который приподымает клавиатуру над поверхностью стола для более эргономичного размещения рук.

Клавиатура увеличивает вес устройства еще на 300 г и толщину на 5,5 мм. Но даже в этом случае планшет будет тоньше и легче подавляющего большинства аналогов.

Добавлю, что все проводные разъемы размещены на окружных гранях планшета, а правая панель дополнена аппаратными кнопками включения и регулировки громкости.

Дисплей

Согласитесь, трудно представить рабочий планшет с маленьким дисплеем, который бы сразу же нивелировал все удобства модели. Так что в ideapad Miix 700 используется 12-дюймовая матрица IPS с разрешением FHD+ или 2160 х 1440 пикселей.

Радуют не только максимальные углы обзора, но также высокий запас яркости (порядка 300 кд/м²), насыщенные, естественные цвета и высокую детализацию изображения. Конечно же, экран сенсорный, поддерживает все жесты ОС, а также мультитач. Так что дисплей планшета идеально подходит для любых задач, будь то работа с документами, или просмотр фильмов.

Кстати, экран поддерживает работу с фирменным активным стилусом WRITEit, при помощи которого можно не только управлять компьютером, но также рисовать и писать на экране. Добавлю, что питается ручка от батарейки формата АААА.

Клавиатура, тачпад, звук

Толщина обложки-клавиатуры чуть превышает 5 мм, поэтому ход у клавиш небольшой, но ощутимый и приятный. Кроме этого клавиши достаточно большие с достаточным для быстрого набора текста расстоянием между ними. Единственный недостаток клавиатуры кроется во все той же малой толщине – при сильных и быстрых нажатиях аксессуар может немного прогибаться и вибрировать. Раскладка получила функциональные клавиши и полноразмерные клавиши-стрелки.

Обложка также дополнена небольшим тачпадом, который пригодится для работы с мелкими элементами на экране.

Мультимедийные динамики установлены на боковых гранях. Здесь производитель постарался на славу. Звучание громкое, чистое, сбалансированное и даже объемное, с гулким, приятным басом. Так что планшет позволит и фильм посмотреть, и музыку послушать, даже без внешней акустики.

Интерфейс и ПО

Windows 10 – выбор производителей сенсорных ноутбуков и больших планшетов, так что здесь ничего удивительного. ideapad Miix 700 работает под управлением 64-битной системы редакции Pro со всеми удобствами, включая предустановленный набор стандартных утилит и удобный планшетный режим.

Среди приложений производителя стоит выделить пакет Lenovo Doit и Lenovo Companion.

Производительность

Модель выпускается в трех модификациях, которые отличаются используемым процессором и объемом хранилища. Производитель оснащает планшет чипами Intel Core M, так что уровень производительности хороший, но активная система охлаждения не требуется. У меня на руках средняя модификация с Intel Core m5- 6Y54 с частотой от 1,1 ГГц до 1,5 ГГц (2 ядра/4 потока), интегрированной графикой Intel HD Graphics 515, 8 ГБ оперативной памяти и SSD-накопителем объемом 256 ГБ.

Конечно, по уровню производительности ideapad Miix 700 выигрывает только у очень бюджетных моделей и «облачных» нетбуков, но эти модели в разы громаднее планшета. Тем не менее, устройство неплохо показало себя в синтетических тестах.

А в повседневном использовании у меня и вовсе нет нареканий. Планшет быстрый и весьма продуктивный, он с легкостью справляется с любыми офисными задачами, просмотром Full HD-фильма онлайн и даже браузерными и легкими играми. При этом даже при максимальной нагрузке корпус планшета нельзя назвать горячим, но нагрев весьма ощутимый.

Камера

Производитель установил сразу две 5 Мп камеры. Основная получила автофокус и вспышку. Качество снимков не выдающееся, но приемлемое. Для повседневного использования, когда смартфона нет под рукой, этого достаточно. Опционально модель поставляется с камерой Intel RealSense для создания 3D-снимков.

Коммуникации

Планшет имеет все необходимое для работы, включая отличный набор интерфейсов. Итак, присутствует Wi-Fi 802.11ac с поддержкой MIMO 2 x 2, а также Bluetooth 4.0. В принципе, этого более чем достаточно для повседневного использования. Но производитель пошел еще дальше, оснастив устройство модемом с поддержкой мобильных сетей 3G и LTE, слот для карты формата microSIM находится в небольшой нише за подставкой. С ним по соседству размещен разъем для карты памяти microSD.

На левой грани планшета находится USB 2.0, совмещенный с портом для зарядки.

Правая панель получила USB 3.0 и microHDMI.

Ну а на верхней грани размещены отверстия микрофонов и комбинированный 3,5 мм аудиослот.

Отмечу, что на нижней панели находится только проприетарный порт для подключения клавиатуры-обложки.

Время работы

Планшет весьма компактный, учитывая все его возможности. Но производителю удалось поместить внутрь корпуса еще и весьма емкий аккумулятор.

Так, в режиме воспроизведения HD-видео на средней яркости дисплея с включенными беспроводными интерфейсами ideapad Miix 700 проработал 4 часа, а в режиме офисной нагрузки это время увеличивается более чем вдвое – до 9 часов.

Впечатления

Lenovo ideapad Miix 700 – тот самый идеальный рабочий планшет. Он легкий, красивый, удобный в работе, быстрый, производительный с качественным, ярким экраном. Для повседневного использования в офисе и дома он полностью заменит ноутбук. Ко всему прочему, в отличие от Microsoft Surface, ideapad Miix 700 официально продается в Украине – еще один существенный плюс.

Lenovo IdeaPad Miix 700

The Lenovo IdeaPad Miix 700 (starts at $749.99; $769.99 as tested) is a slate Windows tablet with an included keyboard cover. If it looks familiar, it's because it's meant to be Lenovo's answer to the Editors' Choice–winning Microsoft Surface Pro 4. With its fanless Intel Core m5 processor, full-size keyboard cover, and higher-than-1080p screen, the Miix 700 ticks most of the right check boxes, and you don't have to budget extra for the almost-necessary add-on keyboard. As such, it's a shoo-in as our first Editors' Choice for midrange Windows tablets.

Design and Features The gold-colored magnesium-alloy Miix 700 measures 0.35 by 8.27 by 11.5 inches (HWD) and weighs 1.73 pounds alone. The included folio keyboard case adds an additional 0.22 inch of thickness, and clipped together, the two pieces weigh 2.46 pounds. That's the same weight and just a smidge thicker and wider than the Surface Pro 4. The Samsung Galaxy TabPro S is thinner and lighter than both, however.

The 12-inch touch screen has a higher-than-1080p resolution of 2,160 by 1,440, which is fairly common for Windows slate tablets; it's seen on the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 and the Samsung GalaxyTab Pro S, for example. HD videos are displayed natively, letterboxed on the screen, with black bars above and below the picture, and text and images are bright and clear. On a screen with an even higher resolution, such as the Surface Pro 4's (2,736 by 1,824), text will look even sharper. The Miix 700's integrated speakers are somewhat soft—fine for a quiet room, but you'll strain to hear movie dialogue over the constant drone of air conditioning or in a busy coffee shop.

The kickstand on the back differs from the adjustable stand on other tablets (such as the Surface Pro 4) with its watchband-style hinge. Like the hinge on the Lenovo Yoga 900S, it consists of three rows of faceted, interlocking metal rings and opens from 0 to about 160 degrees. It's easy to prop up the tablet on a table and use it while you're standing. There's enough friction to keep the stand steady even if you're drumming your fingers on the touch screen. There's no kickstand on the Samsung Galaxy TabPro S, so you're limited to the two angles built into that tablet's folio case.

The keyboard is comfortable to use on a tabletop or lap. The case attaches to a magnetic connector on the bottom of the tablet itself. As with the Surface's Type Cover, a second set of magnets in the folio keyboard's hinge lets you prop the keyboard surface at an angle above the table. Key travel is shallow, but there's enough bounce in the key springs that you'll probably be able to last a few hours before fatigue kicks in. The scalloped keys feel better than the flat keys on the HP Spectre x2, though the metal keyboard deck make its folio case feel sturdier. Unlike the Surface Type Cover or the Spectre x2's keyboard, the Miix 700's keys aren't backlit.

The one-piece touchpad below the keyboard is as responsive as the touch screen. The Miix 700 doesn't come with an Active Pen, however, so you'll have to pay $39.99 extra for it. It has 2,048 levels of pressure sensitivity and two side buttons, but Lenovo's Active Pen lacks the eraser-style button on the Surface's stylus that opens OneNote quickly. The pen responds quickly to input and is easy to use, aside from missing the OneNote shortcut. I was able to create quick sketches and sign documents in seconds.

The right side of the system has one USB 3.0 port and a micro HDMI port. The Surface Pro 4 is similar, though that uses Mini DisplayPort instead of micro HDMI. On the left side there's a combination USB 2.0/Power port, which can be used for mice and keyboards if the AC adapter is unplugged. While that's technically more versatile than the Surface's scheme (only one USB 3.0 port and a proprietary charging port), in practice it's not a huge advantage—you can still only plug in one USB peripheral while the tablet is charging. The HP Spectre x2 sports a pair of newer USB-C ports for charging and connectivity, but that means you need to carry adapter cables for USB 3.0 accessories. The headset jack is also inconveniently placed on the top of the Miix 700; connected there, your headset's cable has a tendency to slip over the screen and block your view.

The tablet comes with 4GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD. Quite a few apps are preinstalled, including Flipboard, McAfee LiveSafe, and nine Lenovo utilities. That's not too bad, but you should budget some time to remove the ones you don't use, since 128GB can fill up quickly. There's a microSD slot to expand the tablet's storage space. Lenovo covers the Miix 700 with a one-year standard warranty.

Performance The base version of the Miix 700 comes with an Intel Core m3 processor, but an Intel Core m5-6Y54 processor with integrated Intel HD Graphics 515 powered our review unit. The benefit of the m5 is that it can be installed without a fan, which helps keep the tablet thin. The Miix 700 returned a good score of 2,532 points on the PCMark 8 Work Conventional test, less than 100 points behind the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and Lenovo Yoga 900S. For day-to-day tasks like creating office documents, viewing webpages, and video conferencing, the Core m5 chip is as good as the Core i5 in the Surface Pro 4.

See How We Test Tablets

Results are a little different for multimedia tasks like video transcoding and photo editing, however. The Miix 700 took 3 minutes, 43 seconds, to complete the Handbrake test and 6:39 for the Photoshop CS6 test. The Surface Pro 4 was 1:23 faster on Handbrake and 3:29 faster on Photoshop. That said, the Miix 700 was still minutes faster on both tests than the Atom-powered Microsoft Surface 3. The Miix 700 is fine for occasional multimedia use, but if you're a graphic artist, we'd still recommend the Surface Pro 4 for detailed sketch work. The animation was little better than a slideshow on our 3D gaming tests. Save playing the new Doom on your home gaming desktop; it will look terrible on the Miix 700 (and virtually every other tablet with integrated graphics).

Battery life is strong: The Miix 700 lasted 8 hours, 55 minutes, on our rundown test, so under typical usage scenarios it should last all day. That's longer than tablets that used older Core M processors like the Asus Transformer Book T300 Chi and Acer Aspire Switch 11 V (SW5-173-632W). The Atom-powered Surface 3 lasted about an hour longer, and the Surface Pro 4 lasted 1:20 longer than the Miix 700.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Miix 700 is an excellent value for the money. The keyboard gives you the flexibility of a laptop, and unlike the Surface Pro 4, it's packed in. And battery life here is good, as is portability. It doesn't knock out the Surface Pro 4 as our high-end tablet top pick, because it costs about $500 less (or $630 if you add the Type Cover). If you're seeking a budget-friendly Surface Pro alternative, the Miix 700 is certainly worth a look.

Lenovo IdeaPad Miix 700 impressions and how it compares to the Microsoft Surface Pro

Lenovo recently announced a 12-inch tablet called the IdeaPad Miix 700 and although they call it “recognizably different with an unique dual watchband hinge kickstand” in their press materials, there’s little doubt it is– on the outside, at least– a close Microsoft Surface Pro 3 replica.

I don’t mind when manufacturers bring the best aspects of their competing products into their own series while improving on the others, but they should ease up with that fancy press talk.

Anyway, the Surface Pro 3 got its fair share of buyers and fans in the last years, mostly because of its thin and light form-factor. The IdeaPad Miix 700 is built on the exact same lines, as a compact tablet with a 12-inch display, a slim metallic body, an adjustable kickstand on the back and a latching keyboard folio. It matches the SP3 in terms of size by fractions of an inch and even weighs nearly the same: 1.70 lbs (780 g) vs 1.79 lbs (790 g) for the Microsoft slate. And if those are not enough similarities, check out the screens and the microSD card reader, again nearly identical on the two.

On the other hand, the IdeaPad Miix gets a slightly different IO, with two USB 3.0 slots and micro-HDMI for video output, while the SP3 gets a single USB 3.0 connector and miniDP for video. The Miix 700 also gets a RealSense camera on the back.

The kickstand design slightly sets the two apart as well. While on the SP3 the hinges are hidden behind the metallic stand, the watchband-hinges on the Miix 700 are visible on the sides and the back. The kickstand can be adjusted to various angles on both of these and do a pretty good job at locking them in place, although the SP3’s does feel somewhat stronger. And, as you can see from the clips included below, the stand’s opening angles are a bit restrictive on the Lenovo.

That aside, the Miix 700 gets a metallic case and feels pretty strong in hand. Just like the Surface though, it’s not a “lappable” device, and will do better on a flat surface where the kickstand can do its thing.

As for the screen, we have a 12-inch display with a 3:2 aspect ratio and an IPS panel on the Miix, 2160 x 1440 px resolution and accordind to Lenovo’s website, Active pen support.

Speaking of the keyboard, it magnetically snaps onto the tablet’s lower end and can be kept flat on the table or slightly folded up, just like on the Surface Pro 3. The typing experience is better though, as this folio gets Lenovo’s Accutype keyboard layout and according to those who spent more time with it, feels similar to the keyboard’s on Lenovo’s IdeaPad laptops. There some bounce and flex in the plastic frame, plus the folio is heavier than Microsoft’s option for the Surface, but the overall feedback and key travel are pretty good for this class.

Aside from the keys, it’s worth adding that the folio has a faux-leather plastic finish on the exterior and on the outside, similar to Samsung’s approach on one of their older Note smartphones. It also houses a decently sized and fairly accurate trackpad.

Fanless Core M vs Powerful Core U

The biggest difference between these two slates lies on the inside. While the Surface Pros are built on Intel ULV platforms, Lenovo’s unit is built on Skylake Core M hardware (up to the Core m7 processors), paired with 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB SSDs. So it’s not going to be as powerful, but it will be fanless. Both Lenovo and Microsoft promise up to 9 hours on a charge for their devices and the Surface Pro 3 actually holds on to that promise. We’ll have to see if the Miix does as well.

Now, the first generation Core M devices didn’t quite live up to the expectations, but Intel are claiming the Skylake update is a major step forward, both in terms of performance and efficiency. If that ends up to be true, this Miix 700 could prove to be a competitive alternative to the Surface Pro. It has the fanless design on its side and it has the price, and although it won’t compete in terms of performance, it might be just fast-enough for the average user.

Speaking of prices, the IdeaPad Miix 700 will retail for $699 and up and that will probably buy you a 6th gen Core m3 or m5 processor, 4 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of SSD storage space. However, both the pen and the dock are included in this bundle. The cheapest Surface Pro 3 goes for $799 at the time of this post and the keyboard-folio goes for $130 extra.

Of course, we should not forget that Microsoft will announce the Surface Pro 4 in October, so by the time the Miix 700 actually gets in stores, in November, the Surface Pro 3 will probably sell for $100 less than it does now. We’ll update the post once the SP4 is launched.

First impressions

At the end of the day though, no matter how you put it, Lenovo’s Miix 700 looks like a pretty good device, from what we know so far.

It’s one of the very few Windows tablets that targets the Surface Pro lines, which have gone unchallenged for a few years and have gained a fair share of customers who didn’t have any proper alternative. Lenovo’s unit mimics the Surface Pro in most ways, offers a better keyboard folio, and is significantly cheaper.

Of course, we’ll have to wait for the retail units to get more info on performance, battery life or any potential hidden flaws, but if you’re planning to get such a device this year, you should keep this Lenovo Miix 700 on your shortlist.
